Spalvieri & Del Ciotto

Both born in 1982, Valentina Del Ciotto and Simone Spalvieri met in 2003. They obtained a master’s degree in similar disciplines at the Politecnico di Milano (in Interior Design and Industrial Design respectively), and immediately combined life and work, opening a studio together and forming a creative couple. Spalvieri & Del Ciotto Design Studio is conceived as a meeting place where ideas can be merged, researched and experimented with. Their work, characterised by the search for formal and functional purity, is built around the belief that every design product must be a value to be passed down to future generations, that can tell a piece of our history and our culture. Its intention is to humanise, through design, new materials and new technologies to encourage the understanding and use of the most innovative objects. Spalvieri & Del Ciotto Design Studio collaborates with some of the most interesting names in Italian and international design including Fratelli Guzzini, Lexon, Magis, Poltrona Frau, Scab, Scavolini and Zanotta. They combine their profession with teaching at Italian and foreign design universities. In 2013, they won the 1st prize of the “Top Young Italian Industrial Designers Prize”, awarded by Massimo Vignelli with an exhibition at the Institute of Italian Culture in New York named “Slow Design Exhibition”. They have won international awards such as the Red Dot Award, the China Good Design and the German Design Award.
